Kevin Knight Wins AEW TNT Championship At Dynasty

A new AEW TNT Champion was crowned in a Casino Gauntlet match at tonight’s AEW Dynasty event in Vancouver.

AEW TNT Champion Kyle Fletcher suffered an unfortunate injury on the March 28 episode of AEW Collision during he and Mark Davis’ match with the Rascalz.

Following his injury, Fletcher was forced to vacate the championship, with a new champion being crowned in a Casino Gauntlet match at tonight’s AEW Dynasty event in Vancouver.

The Casino Gauntlet match started with Tommaso Ciampa and Rush as entrants 1 and 2, with Bandido, Speedball Mike Bailey, El Clon, PAC, Daniel Garcia, Anthony Bowens, Kevin Knight and Wheeler Yuta rounded out the field.

In the end, Kevin Knight scored the pinfall over Daniel Garcia while Garcia had Speedball locked in a Sharpshooter, winning his first singles championship in his AEW career.

Kevin Knight, Speedball and Mistico reigned as AEW Trios Champions, losing the titles to The Dogs on last night’s episode of Collision.

The AEW TNT Championship’s Recent Injury Record

When Kyle Fletcher had to vacate the AEW TNT Championship a couple of weeks ago, it marked the third time in two years the title had to be relinquished due to an injury.

Back in May 2024, Adam Copeland had to vacate the title after he suffered a broken leg during a title defense against Malakai (Aleister) Black at Double Or Nothing when Copeland jumped from the top of the steel cage.

Just over a year later, Adam Cole was forced to vacate the TNT Championship on the day of AEW All In London 2025 at Wembley Stadium when he was set to defend the title against Kyle Fletcher – resulting in a change of plans that day to a four-way between Fletcher, Daniel Garcia, Sammy Guevara and winner Dustin Rhodes.

Then, just a couple of weeks later, while the title wasn’t vacated, Rhodes did drop the championship to Fletcher due to Rhodes requiring double knee replacement surgery which he has yet to return from.

Hopefully this track record doesn’t continue, but it is somewhat representative of issues with modern wrestling with both the style the talent are working, and the question marks over their schedules as they’re not getting as many reps as eras gone by when they would be working a lot more house shows to be TV match ready.
