Tony Khan and AEW found themselves in a difficult situation heading into tonight’s AEW Dynamite show following the backstage fight involving CM Punk and the Elite after the AEW All Out media scrum on Sunday night.
Well the difficult decision was made, as Tony Khan opened up tonight’s Dynamite show, announcing that both the AEW World Championship and the AEW Trios Championship had been vacated due to the fallout of the fight.
Khan announced a ‘Tournament of Champions’ to crown the new World Champion, while the new Trios Champions would be crowned in the opening match of tonight’s show, pitting Pac, Penta El Zero M and Rey Fenix of Death Triangle against Chuck Taylor, Trent Beretta and Orange Cassidy of the Best Friends.
In the end, it was Death Triangle who picked up the victory, crowning them the new Trios Champions.
