A new AEW World Champion has been crowned in the main event of tonight’s Full Gear 2025 main event in Newark.
Tonight’s pay-per-view closed with a steel cage match between AEW World Champion Hangman Adam Page and Samoa Joe.
It was Joe who picked up the victory to dethrone Page and win the title.
The win makes Joe a two-time AEW World Champion, and only the fourth man to win the title more than once.
The previous three were Jon Moxley, CM Punk, and Hangman Adam Page himself.
The win came after The Opps interfered on Joe’s behalf, before HOOK came out to seemingly make the save.
However, HOOK took off his hoodie to reveal that he was actually wearing an Opps shirt underneath, aligning himself with Joe, Katsuyori Shibata and Powerhouse Hobbs, and striking Page with the AEW World Title belt.
That paved the way for Joe to score the win and become champion once again.
After the match, with Page heavily outnumbered, Swerve Strickland made his return from injury to save his once arch-rival Page from The Opps.
