The Horror Show at Extreme Rules was a very confusing show. In the mix of all the confusion, however, were a number of title changes. Well, at least one, officially.
Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro kicked off the night by winning the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championships. After a lengthy battle against the New Day, Cesaro powerbombed Kofi Kingston through two tables to capture the titles. This was a very good tables match and it capped off this new team’s ascent.
In other news, MVP declared himself the new United States Champion after Apollo Crews was unable to compete. The match was declared a forfeit by MVP and we heard nothing more about it. MVP left with the title so we will see if this is debated tomorrow on Raw.
Finally, there was a ton of controversy surrounding the Asuka vs. Sasha Banks match. When the climax of the match arrived, the referee got bumped and Bayley stole his shirt to count the three. The bell did ring and Banks and Bayley left with the belts but the commentators were talking about how this didn’t make sense.
We will have to see what comes of these title changes tomorrow on Raw.
