The New Day are your new WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champions. In truly bizarre circumstances, Big E defeated The Miz and Jey Uso in a Triple Threat match to win the titles on behalf of his team.
Big E played a very small role in the match until the ending. The Big Ending that is. He was taken out of action at the beginning of the match as The Miz and Jey Uso suplexed him through the announce table. He was later knocked off the apron, taking him out until the finish.
As The Miz had Uso in the Figure-Four Leglock, Big E emerged and hit Miz with the Big Ending. This allowed him to get the win and secure the New Day’s eighth reign as champions.
Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods were then shown celebrating in their respective homes. Kingston did his best Howard Finkel impression while Woods was sure to plug the New Day podcast and UpUpDownDown.
This is the first time the tag team championships have changed hands in a singles-rules match. The only thing that comes close is when Cody Rhodes beat himself to win the titles with Ted DiBiase.
