The New Day are one of the most beloved teams in the history of WWE.
While Big E is currently out with a broken neck, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods have been continuing the team’s legacy on SmackDown.
Most recently, the duo attempted to preserve their record as the longest reigning Tag Team Champions in WWE history, but ultimately failed to stop the Usos breaking that record.
Now, Kofi and Woods have set their sights on Pretty Deadly and the NXT Tag Team Championship, set to challenge for the right to become Triple Crown Tag Team Champions at NXT Deadline.
New Day wrestling on NXT and giving spotlight to the current champions is surely a good thing for all involved.
Well, not if you ask WWE Hall of Famer and current NXT announcer Booker T, who was on commentary during the New Day’s return segment.
Booker made it clear that he thinks Kofi and Woods have no right to challenge for the titles, and speaking on his Hall of Fame podcast, he doubled down on his opinion, even calling Kofi and Woods ‘camera hogs’ and ‘bullies’.
He said:
“I don’t like it. I don’t like it at all.
“I mean, these guys are camera hogs. They can’t get no love on the main roster. So, they gotta come over to ‘NXT’ and try to, there again, steal some camera time. It’s just one of those things, man.
“I don’t like seeing bullies pick on people, and that’s what The New Day has become as of late. They’ve become bullies coming over to ‘NXT.’ So, that’s what I would label them as, bullies.”
New Day will face off with Pretty Deadly on tonight’s NXT Deadline premium live event.
One WWE Hall of Famer who is happy to have the New Day in NXT is WWE’s Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative Shawn Michaels, who said he hopes to have the pair on NXT ‘for as long as they can’.
