Crazy to think that one of the last people released by WWE was John Laurinaitis, the man who spent so much of his time calling WWE stars to tell them they’d been released due to “budget cuts”.
If you’ve been able to move past the heartbreak of Laurinaitis’ departure, you may be interested to find out that while many top WWE stars have some leverage in the company, most of them actually don’t have “no-cut” clauses, meaning nearly no-one is safe from being released.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed WWE star Kevin Owens does not have a no-cut clause in his contract, but that he and many others are told they won’t be released.
Meltzer said:
“Even Kevin Owens didn’t get a no-cut (clause in his contract), and he had leverage. He was promised, I’m sure, but they all are, that ‘We’re not gonna cut you’, but it’s not like it’s in writing. There are (some) no-cuts, but there are very, very few in WWE and only the top, top guys have that leverage to have them.”

You have to assume part of that leverage is something along the lines of “if you don’t give me a new contract, I’ll join AEW.”
Just in case Triple H is reading this, I would also like to say that I will join AEW if you don’t give me lots of money.
