Here’s an update on the status of a new IMPACT Wrestling Champion who won their title at yesterday’s Slammiversary pay-per-view.
Former WWE and NXT talent Deonna Purrazzo defeated Jordynne Grace at Slammiversary to win the Knockouts Title. It had been reported before then that she hadn’t signed a contract with the promotion despite several appearances in the lead-up to the bout.
Fightful Select (subscription required and recommended) is now reporting that, despite winning the title, Purrazzo still hasn’t signed and is working on a per-appearance basis.
Purrazzo signed a developmental contract with WWE in 2018, but despite her talent and quality, never really appeared on TV consistently, before being released a few months ago.
When she signed that WWE deal, she was initially scheduled for All In that September, but cancelled her appearance in favour of signing. Since being released she’s said she’d love to work with AEW.
She did have one match on Raw towards the end of her WWE run but even then was still only used on NXT sporadically.
