New Match Announced For WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event WWE

A new match has been added to the upcoming WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event show taking place on July 12 in Atlanta.

Saturday Night’s Main Event takes place on a weekend of three big shows for WWE with NXT’s Great American Bash taking place earlier in the day before SNME, and then Evolution on Sunday, July 13.

Also that weekend is AEW All In Texas, which will be happening at the same time as Great American Bash.

As for Saturday Night’s Main Event, prior to tonight, the only match set was GUNTHER defending the World Heavyweight Championship against Goldberg in what’s being advertised as Goldberg’s last match.

During WWE Raw today, that changed, as another match was added to the card.

In the weeks leading up to Night of Champions, Seth Rollins’ new faction of Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed had targeted LA Knight and taken him out of action.

Then, at Night of Champions two days ago, Rollins, Breakker and Reed all got involved in the main event WWE Championship match between John Cena and CM Punk, with Rollins specifically costing Punk the match.

Tonight on Raw, World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER was in the ring to build up his SNME defense against Goldberg, when he was interrupted by Seth Rollins, who reminded GUNTHER that he’ll be looking to cash-in the Money in the Bank contract at some point.

CM Punk then came out to get revenge on Rollins from Night of Champions, which led to Rollins running away through the crowd in the arena.

However, as Rollins thought he’d escaped, a returning LA Knight appeared behind him and ambushed him.

Later, it was announced that Rollins and Knight will go one-on-one at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event.
