Drew Gulak faced Shinsuke Nakamura on the March 27, 2020, edition of WWE SmackDown. If Gulak won, Daniel Bryan would get a chance to face Sami Zayn for the Intercontinental Championship.
Gulak ended up beating Nakamura with a rollup. That means Daniel Bryan will, in fact, get a shot at the Intercontinental Title.

It will be interesting to see where WWE goes with this story. Gulak and Bryan are a new duo.
They seem to really like working together and appear to have good chemistry. WWE could get some mileage out of the duo. They have a bit of a similar dynamic to Cody and MJF with completely different character styles.
WWE could put the title on Bryan and set up a story of the ultimate break up. They also could go the route of Gulak costing Bryan the title to set up the feud between the two.
Of course, Sami Zayn just won the title, so it would be a quick loss and short title run. However, word is Zayn isn’t able to return to a full-time schedule because of his shoulders.
We’ll just have to see how it plays out.
