Hall of Famer Booker T has confirmed that one of his former students has signed with WWE.
Last month, it was reported by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer that AQA (Angela “Queen” Arnold) was one of the new Performance Center recruits. Booker T has recently confirmed this to be true.
In an interview with Jim Varsallone of the Miami Herald, Booker T revealed that his former student had very recently signed with WWE.
Stating that he likes to think he still contributes to pro-wrestling with his school, he referenced AQA’s signing, noting that opportunities such as WWE Backstage allow him to give his students “the rub”.
Here is the full quote, courtesy of Fightful:
“I love still being a part of the company, watching the growth, watching the young guys still do their thing. Still being relevant and giving back with my school. One of my students, AQA, Angela, just got signed with WWE. For me to still talking about it on WWE Backstage and giving certain guys the rub and boosting their career, it’s really cool.”
AQA made her name on the independent scene, wrestling for SHIMMER and RISE. Competing at IMPACT Wrestling vs. Reality of Wrestling: Deep Impact in 2019, AQA notably wrestled Tessa Blanchard, Su Yung and Hyan.
WWE is yet to officially announce AQA’s signing.
Booker T was prominently featured at Royal Rumble last Sunday, appearing in Bad Bunny’s musical performance. This performance has already been viewed 2.8 million times on YouTube.
