A new WWE signing is reportedly set to be a part of the SmackDown brand following their debut, and will be at the Backlash event this weekend.
Former New Japan Pro Wrestling star Jeff Cobb officially finished up with the company recently, becoming a free agent after competing in his final match for the company last month.
It was reported even prior to Cobb’s departure that he was expected to be headed to WWE, with his name even being listed on the company’s internal roster.
In an update on Cobb’s debut from PWInsider Elite (subscription required), Cobb is expected to start with the company soon, with some within the company expecting him to be at this weekend’s Backlash premium live event in St. Louis.
It is not known whether or not that means he will be appearing on the show, but he is expected to be present the event, with creative for his debut being discussed in recent weeks.
In addition to this, PWN is reporting that Cobb is currently listed on the SmackDown roster internally.
We will provide any updates on Cobb’s WWE debut as they become available.
