A WWE Hall of Famer has reportedly been named the new co-lead writer of WWE SmackDown following it’s move to three hours.
SmackDown became a three-hour show at the beginning of 2025, with it set to remain a three-hour show until June 2025.
The lead writer for the SmackDown brand has currently been John Swikata, but a former SmackDown writer is now set to join him in the role.
Per PWInsider, WWE Hall of Famer ‘Road Dogg’ Brian James has now been named as the new co-lead writer for the SmackDown brand.
Road Dogg will join John Swikata in heading the creative for the SmackDown brand going forward.
Road Dogg previously began a role as a writer for the SmackDown brand in December 2016, before eventually going on to become one of the lead writers for the show.
He resigned from his role as a lead writer for the brand following WrestleMania 35 in 2019.
