Sometimes it takes a while for a tag team to find their feet together, but that doesn’t seem to be the case for Kiana James and Fallon Henley in NXT.
It was announced during last night’s NXT that James and Henley will challenge for the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship against Katana Chance and Kayden Carter at NXT Vengeance Day on February 4 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The story of the unlikely new duo started months ago when James put in a bid to purchase Fallon Henley’s family bar so she could turn it into an apartment complex.
Henley valued her family history with the bar over the money, so she declined the offer.
However, while this was going on, romatic interest sparked between James and Henley’s pal Brooks Jensen, which Henley wasn’t exactly best pleased about.
They actually ended up having a match dubbed the ‘Battle For The Bar’, which Henley won to prevent James from being able to buy it.
However, Jensen seems to have been a link that’s connected the two women together, and they managed to get over their differences for their first tag team match last night, which saw them beat Ivy Nile and Tatum Paxley.
After that match, Brooks Jensen went to NXT booker Shawn Michaels’ office to ask him to give them a title match at Vengeance Day and, well, he did.
That means after last night, the Vengeance Day card looks like this:
Bron Breakker (c) vs. Grayson Waller – NXT Championship Steel Cage Match
Roxanne Perez (c) vs. Gigi Dolin vs. Jacy Jayne – NXT Women’s Championship
Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods (c) vs. Mark Coffey & Wolfgang vs. Pretty Deadly vs. Andre Chase & Duke Hudson OR Edris Enofe & Malik Blade OR The Dyad – NXT Tag Team Championship
Wes Lee (c) vs. Dijak – NXT North American Championship
Katana Chance & Kayden Carter (c) vs. Fallon Henley & Kiana James – NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship
Apollo Crews vs. Carmelo Hayes – 2/3 Falls
