News On Newest WWE Signings

There has been some news behind the recent WWE signings.

NXT announced some notable Performance Center recruits on social media. Establishing some name changes, NXT tweeted:

#WWENXT  is proud to announce the signings of:

Zoey Stark (FKA Lacey Ryan)

Gigi Dolin (FKA Priscilla Kelly)

Cora Jade (FKA Elayna Black)

Fightful Select reports that they learned WWE was interested in the three talents all the way back at the start of November.

It was said that Black and Ryan were almost guaranteed to get signed after their tryouts, and there had been interest in Kelly for quite some time.

These three competitors, along with Anthony Henry, will be joining the current class at the Performance Center.

On Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer went into detail about these new recruits. Noting that Priscilla Kelly had an impressive showing on AEW, Meltzer explained that she was never offered a full time contract for All Elite Wrestling.

Elayna Black had also competed in an AEW ring, with Meltzer noting that she had competed on a few episodes of AEW Dark. Meltzer also explained that Lacey Ryan had made her name on IMPACT and Championship Wrestling From Hollywood.

Here is the full quote:

“They are all new signees along with Anthony Henry, they’re all starting with the current class. Priscilla Kelly and Elayna Black had both worked for AEW. Priscilla Kelly was on the boat (Jericho cruise), and had a TV match that did a really good quarter, I think it was against, was it Britt Baker? She had a bunch of matches on the boat, and she probably did have a match with Britt, but I forgot the TV match. But I just remember that she did a TV match that did a really good quarter, and she was there for a while, and this was when she was with Darby. And they’ve split up. But she never got an AEW offer. She looked good all things considered. Elayna Black has been on Dark a couple of times, but obviously did not get a contract deal. And then Lacey Ryan has been on IMPACT and Championship Wrestling From Hollywood, Las Vegas Future Stars Of Wrestling, from there. So they’re the new people being brought in with their new names.”

All three of the signings mentioned in NXT’s original tweet are set to make their debuts as part of the inaugural Women’s Dusty Rhodes Classic.

With the likes of Io Shirai, Toni Storm and Rhea Ripley, NXT have one of the strongest female rosters in the world. It is clear that The Gold Brand are looking to feature their women in prominent positions during 2021.
