Tonight at NXT TakeOver: WarGames we got our first look at NXT’s next special event. Announced for January 6, 2021, the show will be called NXT New Year’s Evil and will be the first episode of the show of 2021.
No other details were given about the show but one could expect it will be similar to NXT’s Halloween Havoc and Great American Bash specials. Nothing has been announced for the show as of this writing.
Tonight’s event saw what appears to be the closing chapter for a number of rivalries. As such, we could be looking at a series of new rivalries in time for New Year’s Evil. Tommaso Ciampa got a hard-fought win over Timothy Thatcher while Dexter Lumis put Cameron Grimes to sleep in their strap match.
Additionally, Johnny Gargano was able to regain the NXT North American Championship from Leon Ruff. This does not appear to be a program that is near its end yet so maybe we will see something involving these men at New Year’s Evil.
We will provide any updates on the event as soon as they become available.
