NFL Team Honors Former WWE Champion

NFL Team Honors Former WWE Champion WWE/NFL

An NFL team has honored a former WWE champion by naming him with a distinction during week 13 of the football season.

The official Twitter account for the New England Patriots made an announcement about naming Kofi Kingston of the New Day as their Week 13 ‘Keeper of the Light’.

The Patriots account shared a graphic of Kingston along with the message:

“Celebrating 10 years of The New Day with an ELECTRIC Week 13 Keeper of the Light 🦄🥞🎺

“@WWE superstar @TrueKofi is our Week 13 honoree!”

The upcoming December 2 episode of WWE Raw has been touted as a special edition celebrating the 10th anniversary of The New Day in WWE.

The landmark date comes on the heels of an explosive argument on last week’s show between Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston that took place all the way from the ring to the backstage area after they lost a match to the Alpha Academy.

During the back and forth exchange, both had harsh words for one another and parted ways on a sour note.

Yet to be revealed, whether or not all of the strife could be tamed by the return of the third member of the group, Big E.

Big E has been absent from in-ring action since the accident during a match in March 2022 resulting in a major neck injury.

While Big E has not returned to wrestling, he has appeared periodically on WWE premium live event pre and post shows.
