There has been an increased ability for wrestling companies to work together in recent years. Ring of Honor has worked with New Japan Pro Wrestling and the NWA over the last few years and it has resulted in interesting matches and possibilities. Now, NWA Champion Nick Aldis has revealed he pitched to work with two Japanese legends.
G1 Supercard was one of the biggest events in the history of ROH and NJPW. The two companies sold out Madison Square Garden with a joint show and their biggest stars appeared at the event. Aldis has said he wanted to work with The Great Muta and Jushin Thunder Liger at the show. Here is the quote from his interview on the Battleground Podcast, courtesy of Fightful:
“I’m a huge fan of Muta and have worked for him in Wrestle-1. I pitched (me vs. Muta) for the ROH/NJPW Madison Square Garden show, obviously, they passed on that. I also pitched me against [Jushin Thunder] Liger.”
Aldis did not end up appearing on the show as ROH and NWA stopped working together regularly in 2018. Meanwhile, both Liger and Muta appeared in the Honor Rumble on the pre-show.
