Nick Aldis decided to take a pay cut to assist the NWA.
Former NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis re-signed with the National Wrestling Alliance in 2021, extending their partnership that began in 2017.
During his current feud with NWA President Billy Corgan, Aldis noted that he accepted less money from the promotion to help out during the pandemic.
Fightful Select (subscription required) confirmed this and noted there were initial pay cuts given to talent as a result of the pandemic changing things.
The report also notes that Aldis particularly took less money than his contract stipulated to help alleviate that, which he mentioned in a recent interview.
NWA and Billy Corgan picked up an option year on Nick Aldis’ deal in 2021 and extended his contract for 2022.
Corgan recently specified that Nick Aldis isn’t in creative with NWA and doesn’t want to be. He simply wants to be a talent now.
It was also confirmed that Aldis received an offer from All Elite Wrestling in 2019, which he passed on.
Nick Aldis will compete against Flip Gordon on the NWA 74 Night 2 event on Sunday, August 28.
