An update on Nick Aldis potentially competing in a match in WWE after recent teases with Randy Orton prior to WrestleMania 41.
Randy Orton was left without an opponent for WWE WrestleMania 41 after Kevin Owens announced that he had suffered a neck injury that would require surgery last month.
This left Orton without an announced match for the show, with him hosting an open challenge on the show, which ended up being answered by TNA World Champion Joe Hendry.
During the segment when Orton’s match with Owens was cancelled, Orton dropped Nick Aldis with an RKO, which led to some speculation from fans that the SmackDown General Manager would be Orton’s opponent on the show.
In an update on Aldis from Wrestlevotes Radio, WWE had no real consideration of him being Orton’s opponent for WrestleMania 41, but Aldis is open to competing down the road.
They said:
“For those that are into this type of stuff, we are told WWE had no real consideration to have Nick Aldis as Randy Orton’s WrestleMania opponent. The segment where Aldis took an RKO was done, quote, ‘To kill a week of TV’ with Joe Hendry already locked down at that point.
“We are told, however, Nick Aldis is open to competing down the road, if the story is right and appropriate for him to come back and compete.”
Following his victory over Joe Hendry at WrestleMania, Orton is now set to challenge John Cena for the WWE Championship at Backlash in St Louis.
