AEW Star Nick Wayne Addresses End Of NJPW Best Of The Super Juniors Tournament Crossover Run: ‘Is It Really Over?’

AEW star Nick Wayne has shared his first comments following the end of his NJPW crossover run, following the Best of the Super Juniors tour ending.

The NJPW Best of the Super Juniors 33 tournament is now in the books, with YOH defeating Kosei Fujita in the tournament finals on Sunday (June 7).

With Nick Wayne participating in the tournament and being eliminated following the conclusion of block action, the AEW star wrestled in 10-man tag-team action on Sunday’s show, the final night of the tour.

Following his match – which saw him team with Valente Jr, Daisuke Sasaki, Ryusuke Taguchi and Master Wato to defeat Daiki Nagai, Gedo, Titan, Robbie X and Taiji Ishimori – Wayne took to Twitter to comment on the conclusion of his crossover run in NJPW.

This marked Nick Wayne’s second Best of the Super Juniors tour with NJPW, with the AEW star previously stating that he was looking for “redemption” this year, after scoring eight points in block action in the 2025 tournament.

Wayne wrestled 14 matches in total for NJPW during the 2026 tour, with nine of them being in tournament A-block action.

He ultimately finished with 10 points in block action, defeating Ryusuke Taguchi, Robbie X, Daiki Nagai, Titan and Valiente Jr, and coming up short against eventual semifinalist Master Wato, tournament runner-up Kosei Fujita, Francesco Akira and Jun Kasai.

Kasai notably bowed to Wayne following their tournament match, and pitched for Wayne to face off against his son, Hinata Kasai.

Following Wayne’s NJPW Best of the Super Juniors run which only saw him outscored in his block by Master Wato, Kosei Fujita and Francesco Akira, it will be interesting to see how AEW utilizes Wayne following his return to the US.

While Wayne was holding the ROH TV Championship up until shortly before his departure for Japan, it would make sense for Wayne to be more prominently featured on AEW TV to allow his momentum built up in NJPW to continue.
