An AEW star has confirmed the status of their independent bookings.
In April 2023, Nigel McGuinness signed with All Elite Wrestling and has primarily worked on commentary for the Ring of Honor brand.
McGuinness was part of PROGRESS Super Strong Style 16 during the last weekend of May where he served as an announcer, a referee and performed his magic show.
Speaking to Wrestling With Johners, Nigel was asked about a potential return to PROGRESS. He replied:
“I would love to. I would love the opportunity. I booked this weekend before I signed with AEW. Obviously, anything in the future has to go through AEW, they are my prime concern right now.”
“The wonderful thing about working for AEW is that the flexibility and openness to let you do other shows, not just wrestling shows, magic shows as well, and that all comes from the top, comes from Tony Khan and that love that he has for entertainers and respecting performers and knowing that they have this creative need.”
“He lets most people do what they want to do, and I appreciate Tony, AEW, and PROGRESS Wrestling.”
After McGuinness brought up his desire to step back in the ring with his long time rival, Bryan Danielson shared a warning to the former ROH World Champion about stepping back into the squared circle.
