NJPW And CMLL Teams To Compete At Crockett Cup

More details continue to emerge regarding the upcoming Crockett Cup event. The event is being promoted by the NWA and Ring of Honor, and now even more top companies are pitching in talent to help with the tournament.

The NWA has announced that New Japan Pro Wrestling and CMLL will both be sending teams to compete in the Crockett Cup tournament. While it has not been revealed which teams will be participating from the two promotions, both companies have more than their fair share of top tag teams.

New Japan and CMLL are both partners of Ring of Honor, which likely helped get this put together. Only two teams have qualified for the Crockett Cup as of this writing. The two teams are Villain Enterprises (Brody King and PCO) and Caleb Konley & Jay Bradley. Both teams have won qualifying matches to find their way into the tag team tournament.

Also announced for the event will be the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship match between Nick Aldis and Marty Scurll. Aldis and Scurll shot an angle on the most recent ROH TV taping that lead to Scurll challenging Aldis for the championship. Aldis accepted the challenge and the match became official.

Legendary tag teams of the past are also set to be making appearances at the event. The Rock n’ Roll Express, Midnight Express, and Nikita Koloff and Magnum TA will all be appearing in Concord, North Carolina for the event.
