NJPW Announces Five Title Matches For New Beginning Tour

New Japan Pro Wrestling has revealed their plans for their post-Wrestle Kingdom tour. The New Beginning tour will feature a total of five championship matches as many of the titleholders will be making their first defences.

The first title match announced was the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship match where El Desperado and Yoshinobu Kanemaru will defend their titles against El Phantasmo and Taiji Ishimori. This match will be the main event of New Japan’s show on January 23, 2021.

The second will see Shingo Takagi put the NEVER Openweight Championship on the line against Hiroshi Tanahashi. Tanahashi has not usually been one to challenge for the NEVER title but this means a new match with Takagi is on the horizon. The two will battle in the main event of New Beginning in Nagoya on January 30, 2021.

The remaining three title matches will take place at New Beginning in Hiroshima. Both the IWGP Tag Team Championship and the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship will be defended on night one.

In a Wrestle Kingdom rematch, Guerrillas of Destiny will defend their titles against Dangerous Tekkers. Then, Hiromu Takahashi will defend his newly won title against SHO.

Finally, in the main event of New Beginning in Hiroshima Night Two, Kota Ibushi with put the IWGP Double Championship on the line against SANADA. This was to be expected after SANADA challenged Ibushi at the end of Wrestle Kingdom.
