NJPW Announces More Events For July 2020

New Japan Pro Wrestling returned with their first show since the pandemic began yesterday. Then, they began their New Japan Cup tournament earlier today. While a plan had been announced for future events, New Japan has announced four more events for July, including Summer Struggle and Sengoku Lord.

The promotion had already announced that the New Japan Cup would culminate on July 11. The winner of the tournament will then face Tetsuya Naito in the main event of Dominion on July 12. Now, we know what will happen after that.

On July 20, New Japan Road will take place from Korakuen Hall. Then, Sengoku Lord will return on July 25 at the Aichi Prefectural Gymnasium. Finally, New Japan will run two Summer Struggle events on July 27 and July 31, both from Korakuen Hall.

There is no word on what these events will be building towards. It seems highly unlikely that there will be a G1 Climax at least to the level it has been in recent years. Last year’s Sengoku Lord event was a C-Level show, with the only highlight coming in the form of the main event when Kota Ibushi defended the IWGP Intercontinental Championship against Zack Sabre Jr.
