NJPW Commentator to Miss Long Beach Show

NJPW Commentator to Miss Long Beach Show

New Japan Pro Wrestling will be running their Fighting Spirit Unleashed show from Long Beach, California on September 30.

Many of NJPW’s top talents are advertised for the show, including Bullet Club’s Cody and the Young Bucks, as well as Will Ospreay, IWGP United States Champion Juice Robinson, and the Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa of the Guerrillas of Destiny.

However, one on-air talent that won’t be appearing on the show is AXS TV commentator Josh Barnett.

WARNING: VIDEO CONTAINS STRONG LANGUAGE

While it is safe to assume that Barnett isn’t going to be at the NJPW show for the safety of ‘Switchblade’ Jay White, the real reason Barnett will not be at the show is because he will be in Japan in the corner of one of the fighters he is coaching, as Barnett confirmed on Twitter.

There has been no official announcement of who will be joining Jim Ross to do commentary instead of Barnett, but Kevin Kelly has announced via Twitter that he will be in Long Beach the night of the show, and so could be the potential substitute.

There are currently three announced matches for the show. The Young Bucks will defend their IWGP Tag Team Championships against the Guerrillas of Destiny, Marty Scurll will face Will Ospreay in an IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship tournament semifinal match, and Cody will battle Juice Robinson for the IWGP US Championship.
