NJPW Destruction in Hiroshima results

Beretta, Chuckie T, and Will Ospreay defeated Kota Ibushi, Yujiro Takahashi, and Chase Owens

This was a good match with some interesting elements of story weaving throughout. Ospreay and Ibushi will almost undoubtedly have a big singles match down the line and when that happens everyone should be watching. There was some comedy in this match as Beretta and Chuckie T were playing up their Best Friends gimmick and Ospreay was sad that he wasn’t being included. Beretta and Chuckie would hug each other and stop Ospreay from joining in and offer him a handshake instead.

Ibushi’s interactions with his teammates were interesting in this match as he is not a member of the Bullet Club but now often teams with them, yet he does not share their philosophies or tactics. Owens would attempt heel tactics and Ibushi stopped him as if to say “not like that”. Who knows if this will lead to anything but it seems like one of those details that New Japan can weave into a storyline so well.

Beretta and Chuckie T hit a double-team Dudebuster on Owens for the pin.

NEVER Openweight Championship match: Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, and Taiji Ishimori (c) defeated David Finlay, Juice Robinson, and Ryusuke Taguchi

Some comedy in this match but not a lot. Taguchi had a rugby player gimmick going in this match so he had a rugby helmet on which played a role in the match. Finlay used Taguchi as a battering ram with the helmet on and Taguchi ran wild with hip strikes. The match broke down into a series of finishers with both teams hitting big moves, but the BC OGs got the better of the situation as Tama Tonga hit a Gun Stun on Taguchi and Tonga Loa hit Apes*** on Finlay for the win.

Hirooki Goto, Toru Yano, and Gedo defeated Taichi, Takashi Iizuka, and Yoshinobu Kanemaru

Not much of a match, just things going on. The match was meant to set up the NEVER Openweight Championship match between Hirooki Goto and Taichi that is taking place at Destruction in Beppu on September 17th. The Chaos team won via disqualification when Taichi shoved the referee to the ground to continue attacking Goto with a mic stand.

After the match Taichi posed with the NEVER Openweight Championship, skip this one.
