NJPW Fighting Spirit Unleashed results

Fighting Spirit Unleashed is in the books and it was a one of the best shows of 2018 thus far. The latest New Japan Pro Wrestling show to take place in the United States, Fighting Spirit Unleashed featured a stacked card, fantastic matches, and title changes to secure this as one of the year’s best shows.

The main event saw the Golden Lovers team up to face the duo of Kazuchika Okada and Tomohiro Ishii. Omega and Ibushi were able to get the win following a Golden Trigger to Ishii after an incredible match.

This match was the first time that Kazuchika Okada and Kenny Omega were in the same ring since their seven-star match at Dominion in June.

More recently, Omega and Ibushi both had singles matches with Ishii in the G1 Climax, which were regarded as two of the beat matches in the tournament. Omega was then able to defeat Ishii to retain the IWGP Heavyweight Championship at Destruction in Hiroshima.

Following the main event, Kenny Omega challenged Kota Ibushi to a match at King of Pro Wrestling on October 8th. Before Ibushi could answer, Cody jumped in and added himself to the match.

This made the main event of King of Pro Wrestling the first three-way match for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship since 2005 and just the second one ever. Omega accepted the match and said while it may not be the match people want, they are doing it for the beauty and originality of pro wrestling.

Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa defeated The Young Bucks to capture the IWGP Tag Team Championships. Cody also managed to defeat Juice Robinson to win the IWGP United States Championship for the first time. These were the only two title matches on the show and both resulted in title changes.

• Jay White and Gedo def. Hiroshi Tanahashi and Kushida
• IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship tournament semi-final: Marty Scurll def. Will Ospreay
• IWGP Tag Team Championship match: Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa def. The Young Bucks (c)
• IWGP United States Championship match: Cody def. Juice Robinson (c)
• Golden Lovers (Kenny Omega and Kota Ibushi) def. Kazuchika Okada and Tomohiro Ishii
