The brackets for the 2023 NJPW G1 Climax tournament have now been revealed, confirming some huge matchups for the summer.

NJPW has now confirmed the blocks for the tournament, which are as follows:

The tournament will begin with a round-robin format, meaning each star will face every other competitor in their specific block.

After block competition is done, the four points leaders (one from each block) will advance to the semi-finals.

Two semi-final matches will take place to determine the two stars that will meet in the grand final of the G1 Climax 33 tournament. The winner will earn the right to challenge for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship at Wrestle Kingdom 18 in January 2024, but will defend their #1 contendership along the way.

This means that, regardless of how well he does, Eddie Kingston, for example, will have seven guaranteed tournament matches, with one of them notably seeing Kingston battle Tomohiro Ishii in singles action.

Kingston is also set to face former IWGP Heavyweight Champions EVIL and Shingo Takagi.

Another huge match that will take place in block action will be Kazuchika Okada vs Will Ospreay in the B block.

An update has emerged on a huge match that has reportedly been discussed for AEW X NJPW Forbidden Door, which you can read more about right here.
