NJPW star Hiromu Takahashi has issued a challenge to Ace Austin for the IMPACT X Division Championship.
During today’s (May 21) Best of the Super Juniors 29 show, Takahashi pinned Austin to pick up two points in the tournament, and serve the X Division Champion his first NJPW loss.
The two stars shook hands following the contest. Showing his respect to the former IWGP Jr Heavyweight Champion, Austin tweeted:
We will meet again @TIMEBOMB1105
Congratulations. I am forced to respect you, but I will meet again.
Arguing that he has earned an X Division Title shot, Takahashi replied:
A man never breaks his word, right? I want your belt!
I got the right to challenge (for) the belt!
Prior to the tournament commencing, Takahashi had teased that a win over Austin could open some ‘pretty cool doors’.
Takahashi and IWGP Jr Heavyweight Champion Taiji Ishimori currently lead the A Block with 6 points (three wins) apiece.
