NJPW Star Makes Final Appearance

NJPW Star Makes Final Appearance NJPW

A five-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion has made their final appearance in an NJPW ring, ahead of his official departure.

With NJPW confirming that Takahashi was set to leave the company, his final match for the promotion came on February 11 at The New Beginning in Osaka.

The recent show saw the departing star team with Taiji Ishimori as Unbound Co. took on United Empire’s Francesco Akira & Jakob Austin Young.

Takahashi and Ishimori were ultimately victorious, with his Unbound Co. teammates celebrating his career in the ring moments after the match ended.

Surrounded by his faction, Takahashi would be hoisted into the air in jubilation after the ring was covered in gold streamers.

A comically rough landing would see him requiring “CPR” from various members of Unbound Co. before he would then embrace them all.

Unbound Co. was formed earlier this year, bringing together Unaffiliated and the David Finlay-led Bullet Club War Dogs.

David Finlay would also indicate that his time in New Japan Pro-Wrestling may be at an end, delivering an emotional moment after his loss to United Empire’s Callum Newman.

Hiromu Takahashi debuted in New Japan Pro-Wrestling back in August 2010, and would have a career that would see him not only a five-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion, but also hold tag team championships.

In addition to his five-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship reign, Takahashi was also a former NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Champion (with Yota Tsuji & Bushi) and held the IWGP Tag Team Championship with Tetsuya Naito.
