A major New Japan Pro-Wrestling international tour has been postponed according to a recent press release announcing alternative plans.
It had previously been reported that NJPW was heading to Wagga Wagga in Australia for a four-day tour.
The tour would have been the inaugural event for the Oceania Cup, with the four-day tour being described as:
“…(a) four-day event which will incorporate fan engagement sessions, appearances from high-profile legend wrestlers, an inclusive event for people with disability and elite professional wrestlers from all over the world.”
It now transpires that the event will not be taking place with NJPW at the helm but with IMPACT Wrestling taking its first steps out of North America since September 2018.
According to the official announcement of their upcoming tour, IMPACT Wrestling noted:
“IMPACT Wrestling replaced New Japan Pro-Wrestling in Australia due to NJPW scheduling and talent availability issues. The NJPW Oceania Cup has been postponed.”
The IMPACT Down Under starts on Thursday, June 29 and includes two “marquee” events on Friday, June 30, and Saturday, July 1.
On Sunday, June 25, NJPW and AEW once again join forces for the second Forbidden Door PPV.
