NJPW has announced the return of its CMLL Fantasticamania crossover event for early 2023.

The Japanese and Mexican promotions will team up once again for a tour culminating with two nights of action on February 27 and 28, 2023.

NJPW shared the following on its official site:

After three years away from the NJPW calendar, Fantasticamania will finally make a return in 2023!

The estrella of CMLL will be making the voyage to Japan to thrill and delight, as the lucha libre festival is back!

The one week tour kicks off February 22 in Tachikawa, before Kyoto, Osaka and Chiba, with the action culminating in two thrilling nights from Korakuen Hall on February 27 and 28!

Don’t miss the best in lucha libre and the best in Japan as Fantasticamania 2023 approaches!

NJPW and CMLL last held a Fantasticamania tour in January 2020, prior to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions tightening.

Since then, the Japanese promotion has officially worked with a variety of other companies, most notably AEW. NJPW and AEW hosted a ‘Forbidden Door’ show in June, featuring stars from both promotions.

NJPW appears to be working with WWE in some capacity, with Karl Anderson still recognised as the NEVER Openweight Champion despite returning to WWE earlier this month. An update on Anderson’s future with NJPW can be found at this link.
