Former WWE star Ricochet has commented on the possibility of him returning to NJPW to compete in the G1 Climax tournament.
While AEW was always expected to be Ricochet’s next home in wrestling following his WWE departure, there has also been some speculation about the high-flyer making a NJPW comeback.
Speaking with Tim & Eli on Battleground, Ricochet noted that he’s “absolutely” interested in competing in NJPW’s main tournament.
Ricochet explained:
“Yeah, absolutely. I already won Best of the Super Juniors. I feel like I should upgrade my goals to the G1, for sure.
“There are a lot of things in between that I didn’t get to accomplish, that I still plan on accomplishing.”
AEW’s Konosuke Takeshita notably competed in this year’s G1 Climax tournament, making it to the quarter final stage. Zack Sabre Jr ultimately won the tournament, becoming the first British G1 Climax winner.
As referenced by Ricochet, the former WWE Intercontinental Champion won the 2014 Best of the Super Juniors junior heavyweight tournament.
Ricochet notably faced Will Ospreay several times in Best of the Super Juniors tournaments, popularising their rivalry.
Ricochet recently teased a showdown with Ospreay at a notable AEW event, which you can read more about right here.
