NJPW Road To Power Struggle Results

Road to Power Struggle is continues the build towards New Japan Pro Wrestling‘s final big show before Wrestle Kingdom 13. The show was also the first night of the 2018 Super Jr. Tag League tournament, which will culminate at Power Struggle.

The eight teams in the Super Jr. Tag League will compete in a round-robin style tournament over the next few weeks. This is a change from the single-elimination style format the company has used in the past.

The teams in this year’s tournament are:

  • Shingo Takagi & Bushi
  • Tiger Mask & Jushin Thunder Liger
  • Ryusuke Taguchi & ACH
  • Kushida & Chris Sabin
  • SHO & YOH
  • El Desperado & Yoshinobu Kanemaru
  • Taiji Ishimori & Robbie Eagles
  • Soberano Jr. & Volador Jr.

There were three non-tournament matches on this show, featuring young lions, Bullet Club, and Chaos. However, the match most people should go out of their way to see from this show was the main event. Shingo Takagi and Bushi defeated SHO and YOH in what was a great match and a great way to kick off the tournament. This was Takagi’s second match as a member of Los Ingobernables de Japon after debuting at King of Pro Wrestling.

  • Toa Henare, Shota Umino & Ren Narita d. Yuya Uemura, Ayato Yoshida & Yota Tsuji
