Details On NJPW & STARDOM IWGP Women’s Title Tournament

More details have emerged on the IWGP Women’s Championship, ahead of the inaugural champion being crowned at the upcoming NJPW x World Wonder Ring STARDOM event.

In July, NJPW and STARDOM confirmed that the two promotions will introduce a joint title at the November 20 Historic X-Over joint event.

It has now been confirmed that the first champion will be determined with a tournament featuring STARDOM names and international stars.

On October 2, the international bracket first round match will happen. One international star is set to receive a bye straight to the semi-final round.

The STARDOM bracket for the tournament will feature four stars, with their first round matches taking place on October 22.

The semi-final bouts will take place on October 23, ahead of the finals on November 20.

NJPW x STARDOM Historic X-Over will be the first time both promotions have came together for a joint event.

STARDOM exhibition matches have taken place on recent NJPW cards since Bushiroad’s acquisition of the women’s promotion in 2019, with Tam Nakano & Saya Kamitani facing off against Mayu Iwatani & Starlight Kid at Wrestle Kingdom 16 in January.
