Jeff Cobb has reportedly been dealing with a knee injury, following the first two nights of NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 16.
As per Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, Cobb most likely received the injury during his six-man tag bout on Wrestle Kingdom 16 night one, on January 4. Cobb reportedly made the injury worse during his match with Tetsuya Naito on January 5.
The injury is reportedly legitimate, with Cobb set to have an MRI scan to assess his injury. Cobb isn’t currently scheduled to compete on January 8 during the NJPW vs NOAH Wrestle Kingdom night three show.
After defeating Cobb, Naito confronted Kazuchika Okada following the main event of the show, setting up the next IWGP World Heavyweight Championship match.
We will continue to provide updates on Cobb’s condition as they become available.
We wish Cobb a safe and healthy recovery, and hope his injury isn’t serious.
