NJPW Wrestling Dontaku Day One Results

New Japan Pro Wrestling’s latest event, Wrestling Dontaku Day One, is in the books. The show is the first of two events which conclude the Wrestling Dontaku tour.

The most newsworthy thing to come out of the event was TAICHI regaining the NEVER Openweight Championship. TAICHI defeated Jeff Cobb who was attempting to make his first defence of the title since winning it at G1 Supercard. TAICHI held the title last fall when he won and lost it to Hirooki Goto. This is his second reign with the title.

The other piece of news was the video that played, teasing a new challenge for Juice Robinson’s IWGP United States Championship. The video played after Robinson, Hirooki Goto and Mikey Nicholls defeated Jay White, Bad Luck Fale and Chase Owens. The video showed an individual playing with an hourglass, claiming Robinson’s time was running out. June 5th was the date shown at the end of the clip, which is also the date of the Best of the Super Juniors final.
