No Plan To Unify Women’s Championships At WrestleMania

It is being reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that there are no plans to unify the women’s championship at WrestleMania, despite both champions appearing in the same match.

Following Charlotte Flair’s shock defeat of Asuka on Tuesday’s SmackDown Live, both the Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey and SmackDown Women’s Champion will appear in the same match.

Ronda and Charlotte will compete in a three-way including Becky Lynch, but as it stands only the Raw belt will be on the line. As Dave Meltzer writes in the Observer:

“What “Winner Take All,” the theme we’ve heard from a few people as the probable tag line entails is not clear, although will be finalized on Raw on 4/1 in Washington, DC. The plan is not to unify or merge the championships, at least long-term.”

There is speculation that the plan is to have all four of WWE’s four horsewomen standing in the ring at the end of the show holding up their belts, which would suggest Bayley and Sasha will retain their tag belts and Becky will win the three way.

Bryan Alvarez speculated that the above could be the plan, and it’s certainly something you could see WWE doing amidst all the women’s evolution promotion.
