The topic of Chris Benoit is always going to cause controversy, and considering the circumstances of his death in 2007, that’s hardly surprising.
The latest controversy has come off the back of a tweet from Impact Wrestling star Jordynne Grace, who tweeted she doesn’t think Benoit could hang with most of today’s best wrestlers.
She then added: “may he burn in hell,” which is the comment that has caused such a stir.
This is gonna be the coldest take I ever tweet on this app. I already know y’all gonna be mad.
I don’t think Benoit could 100% hang with most of the present day best wrestlers. He would not be able to remember matches.
Also may he burn in hell, amen ?? https://t.co/h8Ke27DcDl

A lot of fans agreed with her, but there was a vocal group that condemned her words. After his death, doctors determined Benoit was suffering from CTE (chronic traumatic encephalopathy) at the time of his death, something many feel had an impact on his actions and subsequent death.
In response to fans calling her out, Grace maintained that “he should never be defended”. We won’t post the tweet here as it could be upsetting to some readers.
