CM Punk has given his first public interview since losing handily to Mike Jackson at UFC 225 in June.
Speaking to Ariel Helwani on his ESPN MMA show, Punk noted that he has not spoken to UFC President Dana White since the defeat.
Punk was honest in his assessment of his UFC future, stating: “It probably does not make a lot of sense to fight in UFC again.”
Helwani brought up All In, which many fans expected Punk to be part of because it was in his hometown of Chicago. Punk admitted that conversations were had about being involved:
“They said, ‘Hey, if you want to come, you should come” said Punk. He claims the reasons it didn’t happen were because there was no follow up and that even if there had been he could not have done it because he was shooting a movie that day.
When pressed by Helwani about whether he had been contacted by other promotions about making a return, Punk left no doubt about his wrestling future:
“There’s nothing that interests me in wrestling” he said.
Even though Punk has flat out stated he has no interest in wrestling and he considers himself retired, the rumors will inevitably start up again as ROH’s historic Madison Square Garden show approaches in April.
