WWE has announced a number one contenders tag team match for the September 16 episode of WWE SmackDown.
On the September 5 Raw show, the New Day, the Street Profits, Alpha Academy and Los Lotharios faced off in what was a number one contenders four-way tag team match, with the winners being next in line to face the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions The Usos.
The match did not have a finish however, as former Universal Champion Braun Strowman made his return to WWE after being released last June, laying waste to everyone in the match and cementing his spot back on the WWE roster.
However, WWE has now announced that the four-way match that Strowman interrupted will now take place on next week’s SmackDown show instead, with the winners being next in line for the Usos.
Championship fever is in the air for WWE next week, as Women’s Tag Team Champions Aliyah and Raquel Rodriguez will defend their Women’s Tag Team Championship against IYO SKY and Dakota Kai of Damage CTRL on Raw, as well as Bianca Belair hosting a Raw Women’s Championship open challenge. Meanwhile on NXT, Carmelo Hayes will defend his North American Championship against a fan voted opponent, while Pretty Deadly will defend their NXT Tag Team Championship against the Creed Brothers in a fan voted stipulation.
