The NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship will be defended at the upcoming Crockett Cup event. Champion Nick Aldis will defend his title against Ring of Honor’s Marty Scurll as announced at the most recent ROH TV tapings.
Aldis wanted Scurll to be his tag team partner in the Crockett Cup tournament. Given their history in the UK, it came as a shock that Scurll instead chose to challenge Aldis for the NWA Championship. Aldis accepted Scurll’s challenge and their match was made official.

Aldis regained the NWA Championship at the NWA 70th Anniversary show in October. He defeated Cody in a Best-of-Three-Falls match to win the championship for the second time. Cody had won the title from Aldis at ALL IN a month earlier. Since regaining the championship, Aldis has successfully defended the title against Jake Hager, Brian Cage, James Storm, and PJ Black.
Marty Scurll’s contract with Ring of Honor is set to expire this spring, likely around the time of the Crockett Cup. With the recent launch of All Elite Wrestling, it appears likely that Scurll would be heading to join his Being the Elite cast mates.
