NWA has issued an official statement on Matt Cardona’s injury status, ahead of the upcoming Alwayz Ready event.
After announcing an injury following his bout at GCW Downward Spiral, Matt Cardona has confirmed that he suffered a torn bicep.
While all injuries are unfortunate, Cardona’s was especially so, as he was slated to defend his NWA Worlds Heavyweight Title against Nick Aldis at Alwayz Ready on June 11, a pay-per-view intended to honor Cardona.
NWA has now addressed Cardona’s injury, sharing a quote from Busted Open Radio in which Cardona stated that he will definitely be at Alwayz Ready in some capacity.
You can read the statement below:
Recently the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) World’s Heavyweight Champion Matt Cardona was injured at the GCW Downward Spiral event in Las Vegas, NV on May 28.
This calls into question whether or not Cardona will be able to defend his championship at his signature pay-per-view Alwayz Ready on June 11 in Knoxville, TN.
“I don’t care if I have to drive, walk or crawl. I don’t know what’s going to happen, but the Champ will be there,” Cardona said on the 6/1 broadcast of Busted Open Radio.
Stay tuned to the NWA social media platforms for updates on the main event of Alwayz Ready.
Cardona won the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Title at NWA PowerrrTrip, defeating Trevor Murdoch for the gold.
We will continue to provide updates on the situation as they become available.
