NWA Talent Growing Frustration With Billy Corgan Following WWE NXT Move To CW? NWA

A new report has revealed the NWA talent’s growing frustration with Billy Corgan following WWE NXT move to the CW.

Last month, NWA President Billy Corgan revealed that the promotion was set to announce a lucrative television deal with a “top 20 network.” It was later reported to be The CW Network.

However, at NWA Samhain on October 28, a controversial segment aired with Father James Mitchell appeared to throw a party with wrestlers doing cocaine. After online criticism towards the segment, The CW network executives were said to be upset and it could possibly negatively affect the NWA’s deal.

On November 7, WWE announced that they had reached a five-year deal to bring NXT to The CW starting in October 2024.

According to Haus of Wrestling, the NWA Samhain incident led to talks between WWE and CW to accelerate and completing their deal. Nick Hausman wrote:

One source we spoke with at WWE gave us the impression that talks with The CW accelerated following the incident. They went on to say, “No segment ever done in wrestling has had that severe of consequences to the promotion than the Samhain Coke Spot.”

The report notes that Corgan had pushed for the segment to air on pay-per-view, believing the network wouldn’t see it.

Some NWA roster members are said to be growing frustrated with Billy Corgan’s leadership following this segment and in the wake of the CW deal seemingly falling through.

There is also some growing frustration in regards to Corgan being unavailable between television tapings to discuss creative ideas, and talent finding out what they are doing at tapings as little as an hour beforehand.

Also, Corgan is said to put his talent through “tests” to show their loyalty to him and the promotion.

The report also notes that there is some kind of division in the way Corgan treats his younger wrestlers compared to the older ones.

Corgan is said to not want several wrestlers on the NWA roster who are under the age of 25 to lose on shows run by other promotions, such as AEW.

However, older wrestlers under NWA contract are not said to be under the same restriction when working outside of the company.

WrestleTalk will provide further updates on NWA talent’s frustration toward Billy Corgan when they become available.
