NWA Worlds Championship Match Changed Due To Huge Backstage Heat NWA

The National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) announced last night that the main event of the upcoming NWA 74 show had been changed.

The main event was set to see NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Trevor Murdoch defend his title against Nick Aldis, but Billy Corgan announced yesterday that Aldis will no longer be a part of the match, instead being replaced by NWA Television Champion Tyrus.

Corgan announced the change on Busted Open Radio last night, during which he complained about Aldis’ politicking behind the scenes and noted that ‘no-one is unhappier than Aldis’.

While this could always be turned into a storyline, see AEW and MJF for example, PWInsider notes that there is some truth to Corgan’s claims, and the two sides are not currently getting along anywhere near as well as they used to in the past. Those close to the situation have described it as things slowly eroding and finally boiling over between the two.

One source said that Aldis has been critical of the creative direction for the NWA, which is 100% Corgan’s vision of the promotion, and that led to a breakdown between the two. Another source stated that there was ‘magma level’ heat towards Aldis for promoting himself above the NWA and for constantly speaking out regarding Corgan’s creative decisions.

Aldis reacted to the announcement of his replacement on Twitter, simply responding with three laughing emojis.
