Report: NXT Commentators Banned From Mentioning Rick Steiner, Bron Breakker’s Father

It’s being reported that the commentators for NXT were banned from mentioning Rick Steiner, the father of Bron Breakker.

Breakker made his debut this past Tuesday with a win over LA Knight and then made it clear he has his sights set on Tommaso Ciampa’s NXT Championship.

Despite being second-generation, and dressing and looking exactly like a Steiner, this is something that was never mentioned.

His real name is Bronson Rechsteiner, and he was originally going to be Rex Steiner, but he ended up being Bron Breakker with no reference to his lineage.

The only hint was Vic Joseph saying ‘Dog-Faced Gremlin’, which was a nickname of Rick Steiner.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said:

“The guys were told they could not say Rick Steiner, so Vic Joseph decided to be cute and he wasn’t banned from saying ‘Dog-Faced Gremlin’. But those announcers were absolutely told, ‘You cannot mention (Rick Steiner)’.”

There were two other sons of former WWE stars who debuted on NXT, with Brooks Jensen being the son of Bull Buchanan, and Von Wagner being the son of Wayne Bloom.

It seems WWE wants all these guys to have completely new identities instead of their familys’ WWE and wrestling histories being acknowledged as part of their make-up.

The problem is, the internet exists, so people know anyway. Even Drew McIntyre made a joke about Scott Steiner on Twitter during Breakker’s match.
