Ahead of this Sunday’s premium live event, a new report has revealed a pitch for NXT Battleground match to take place in UFC Octagon.
On the May 21 edition of WWE NXT, Natalya and Karmen Petrovic defeated Lola Vice and Shayna Baszler in the main event. Post match, Vice turned on Baszler by attacking and brawling with her.
NXT General Manager Ava then came out to announce that Vice will go one-on-one with Baszler in a NXT Underground Match on Sunday, June 9 at NXT Battleground.
The NXT Underground Match is a no-rope MMA-style fight that can only be won by knockout or submission. It has become a signature stipulation for the brand.
Fightful Select (subscription required) provided an update, noting that at least one pitch for Lola Vice and Shayna Baszler’s NXT Underground Match to take place inside the UFC Octagon at Battleground.
However, it has not been confirmed if this is officially planned for the NXT premium live event at the UFC Apex this Sunday.
WrestleTalk will provide any further updates on the NXT Underground Match taking place in the Octagon when they become available.
