With the NXT return of Samoa Joe having been confirmed, could the brand be looking to bring back more released stars?
Joe will reportedly be returning to the black-and-gold brand in a non-wrestling role, but he wasn’t the first released name that Triple H has tried to get hold of.
As reported by Fightful Select, there have been “numerous” releases over the past 14 months – going back to the original Black Wednesday last year – that NXT has discussed bringing back.
One of those would seem to be Drake Maverick, who did end up joining NXT very soon after being released, and the report adds that at least one star who was released recently actually pitched for an NXT return but was shot down.
This whole situation really makes you wonder whether everyone backstage in WWE is on the same page – PWInsider had already reported that Triple H wasn’t happy about Joe being released, and the recent cost-cutting has been led by the company’s President, Nick Khan.
