Standout NXT Call-Up Teases Title Feud After WWE Backlash 2023 WWE

New WWE Raw star Grayson Waller has teased a United States Championship feud following WWE Backlash 2023.

During the May 6 premium live event, Austin Theory defended his US Title against Bobby Lashley and Bronson Reed.

This marked Theory’s final title defence before his move to SmackDown, when the new rosters from the recent draft become official on Monday (May 8).

Also heading to SmackDown is NXT standout Grayson Waller. The rising star has now hinted that he’s targeting Theory’s gold, sharing a photo of himself with the US Title belt.

From Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative Shawn Michaels, to long-time WWE star The Miz, many have touted Waller as a future WWE main-eventer.

Waller immediately put the new SmackDown roster on notice with an awesome promo following his call-up, before celebrating with a ‘shoey’.

It is possible that this entire segment was improvised on the spot, following a previous report indicating that some NXT call-ups legitimately didn’t know about their main roster plans until their draft announcements.

The rising star has also teased rivalries with two other notable WWE names, which you can read more about right here.

Full results from Backlash were as follows:

Raw Women’s Championship – Bianca Belair (c) def. IYO SKY

Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins def. Omos

SmackDown Women’s Championship – Rhea Ripley (c) def. Zelina Vega
